Orchestra CM - Final Beta is shipped to customers

Enterprise 2.0 gets a huge boost with the release of the world’s only Conversation Management Server

OTTAWA, Canada, April 30, 2007 - XStream Software, a developer of world class e-learning and collaboration tools, announces the final beta release of Orchestra CM, Patent Pending, the world’s only Conversation Management Server. Orchestra CM is the long awaited new version of the popular Crossdraw product. The Final Beta version of Orchestra CM is being made available to select customers, analysts and integration partners. The General Availability (GA) release is scheduled for end of July, 2007.

Like document management for your corporate conversations, Orchestra CM manages electronic conversations across the enterprise. The technology is designed to work in the background, capturing conversations taking place within multiple applications and organizing them within a single corporate repository. Almost invisibly, Orchestra CM creates a page for each conversation, arranges the strands of these conversations into logical discussion threads, and files them within centrally accessible team, group or project folders. Then by integrating these conversations and folders into the applications where people are working, Orchestra CM transforms collaboration into a feature as opposed to a product, making it possible for users to engage in enterprise-wide conversations from within the applications where the work is being done.

Since the first mention of Internet 2.0, many visionaries have been predicting the demise of email as the primary communications tool. XStream took the position that the issue was not that email was the wrong tool; rather, it was just that email needed to be brought into the 21st Century. XStream sought guidance from a number of leading industry experts in the email market space. From these consultations the Orchestra CM was born.

“Email is limited by its 1-to-1 and 1-to-many architecture. How often do we find ourselves searching for email from a discussion thread to try to understand the context of the answer found in the current email. This is exacerbated when recipients choose “reply” instead of “reply all” when responding to an inquiry,” says Andrew Moffat, Founder of EAS, the world's most advanced email archiving solution. “I was so impressed when I received an advance demonstration of Orchestra CM. To be attached directly to multiple conversation management servers, located in multiple organizations and to be able to participate in organized discussions, on numerous topics, without having to leave Outlook was incredible. However, the truly disruptive feature of Orchestra CM was “Contextual Collaboration”.”

“People work in email because it’s convenient, it’s familiar and it’s reliable. By integrating with email, we take full advantage of these positive qualities while supplying the collaborative capabilities that traditional email lacks. The result: People can collaborate from within the comfort of email without changing the way they work,” says Vic Nishi, General Manager, Orchestra CM. “Orchestra CM does this by focusing on the conversation rather than on the tool. Conversations take place between people, so why must we confine them within single applications? Using Orchestra CM, users can view and contribute to the same conversation from within a Word document, a portal discussion page or via email. All three applications connect to the same conversation, so the user can choose to engage via the application and the entry point that they find most convenient.”

“We are excited about the enormous potential of Orchestra CM, a revolutionary technology that delivers on the promise of how collaboration was always meant to work,” says Sunil K. Sethi, President and CEO, XStream Software Inc. “This is truly a new kind of collaboration tool that will make it easier for everyone to work together more effectively on the Web.”

Orchestra CM is exhibiting at the Enterprise 2.0 Collaborative Technologies Conference, Boston MA, 18-21 June 2007. This is the industry event for IT and business professionals interested in the exploration and adoption of collaborative tools and technologies.

Please join us there and arrange to take Orchestra CM for a test drive. Once you see what Conversation Management delivers, you will never look at MS Outlook the same way again.

XStream is actively looking for Journalists and Analysts to review and comment on the technology. The GA release of Orchestra CM is scheduled for the end of July 2007.
